Carpet Care & Maintenance

Get care and maintenance tips to keep your new carpet looking beautiful and feeling plush.

You don’t necessarily need to spend a lot of time to keep your new carpet looking great, just follow these simple care and maintenance tips to ensure the longevity of your carpet.

Establishing a preventative maintenance routine is a great first step to caring for your new carpet. Remove outdoor shoes before walking across your carpet so you don’t track dirt inside the house.

To make things even easier, create a care and maintenance routine that also works with your current cleaning schedule. In the end, only you know what kind of cleaning regimen works best for you. For most of our carpeting products, daily to weekly vacuuming with a manufacturer’s approved vacuum is really all you need to keep your carpeting looking and feeling great!

Periodically throughout the year, we also suggest either a professional cleaning or giving your carpets a shampoo at home (if recommended by your carpet manufacturers guidelines). Regardless of what kind of care and maintenance routine you establish, make sure you’re following the recommendations of your carpet manufacturer, to ensure maximum effectiveness and a beautiful end result.

During your spring cleaning, incorporate a deeper clean for your carpet to remove any wintery residue. Or, do this at the start of autumn to prepare your home for the winter season.

No matter how careful you are, and how much you stick to your care and maintenance routine, your carpeting will still most likely fall victim to the occasional spill, dirt, or mess over time, especially if you have kids or pets.

Many of our carpets are sold with stain-resistant technology built into the fibers. This makes cleaning common household stains a cinch!

Your first instinct when it comes to common household spills, stains, or soils on your carpeting, like spilled juice, soda, wine, or pet accidents, is to immediately start cleaning up the mess. However, we first recommend considering whether it’s an oil-based stain or a water-based stain and then consulting our common stain removal guide.
